a. Bathing- Avoid locking the bathroom door; Have a ‘engaged’ sign to allow privacy
b. Cooking- Prefer to use microwave or induction cooking methods than LPG cooking gas
c. Furniture- Avoid sharp edged furniture to minimize risk of injury
d. Helmets- Children with seizures in which they fall suddenly i.e. ‘Drop attacks’ use cycling helmets at all times to prevent head injury
a. General precautions
i. Discuss with your doctor beforehand
ii. Inform your sports instructor, gym trainer, sports team members etc that you have epilepsy
iii. Ensure people around you are aware of the emergency procedures in case you have a seizure
b. Sports that can be done with a few precautions are-
Running, Jogging, Gymnasium (Including sauna, steam), Team Sports (football, cricket), Theme parks, Yoga, Squash, Martial art
c. Cycling- Can cycle with few precautions
i. Avoid roads with vehicular traffic
ii. Wear protective helmets/Knee caps/Elbow caps
iii. Wear clothing that can be seen prominently- maintain high visibility
iv. Ensure bicycle has reflectors
d. Swimming/Water sports-
i. Ideally swim with a companion at all times
ii. Only swim in the presence of a qualified life guard
iii. Wear bright swim wear
iv. Wear floating aid
e. Sports advised against or are to be indulged in after detailed discussion with your doctor-

b. Lack of sleep can trigger seizures for some people.
